Utah Animal report information - Due Oct. 14 (preferably handed in before Halloween)
Utah animal report
Each year my class does a animal report, we want to describe animals found in Utah environments and how these organisms have adapted to the environment in which they live. The students get to choose their animal, study and research it, make some kind of model of their animal in its environment, present their report to the class, then lastly write about it in an essay format. Writing the essay will be done in class. Attached is a graphic organizer to help get started on our report. What is on the organizer should be the things that we are researching.
Here are a few of the things that we would like to see.
Using 3x5 cards or something similar we will record the information we gathered from the graphic organizer. Each section should have its own card.
3x5 cards do not need to be in complete sentences. We will be putting them in complete sentences when we write the essay.

Here are a few of the things that we would like to see.
- Cite examples of physical features that allow particular plants and animals to live in specific environments (e.g., duck has webbed feet, cactus has waxy coating).
- Describe some of the interactions between animals and plants of a given environment (e.g., woodpecker eats insects that live on trees of a forest, brine shrimp of the Great Salt Lake eat algae and birds feed on brine shrimp).
- Identify the effect elevation has on types of plants and animals that live in a specific wetland, forest, or desert.
Using 3x5 cards or something similar we will record the information we gathered from the graphic organizer. Each section should have its own card.
